Using a note-taking application is unique to each user. Our needs vary depending on our responsibilities and our daily tasks. Some may need it more, some may need it less, some may not need it at all and just like trying out new software. Whatever the case may be, we tried to make Noted an application that would adjust to each user's needs and would provide them with the tools they need to become efficient.

Noted is real-time, which means that every update made is automatically reflected on your application. Therefore, you will see no Sync button anywhere! That's right, get used to it! This will save you a lot of time, let alone the stress of not knowing when you last synced and having to do it over and over again. Let's see how it actually works now!

1. Understanding the UI

The UI is pretty straightforward. On top, you can see an overview of your notes split in three key categories: Private Notes, Sharing with others and Shared with me. Each category has its own unique colour that applies on the notes themselves. Private notes are coloured in pink, which means that if you hover over a private note, you will see that the background changes to pink. This colour distiction aims to ease the understanding of the users.

Each note is displayed in a card-looking style. On top, is the title of the note, in the middle there is the content and on the bottom you can see the URL that the note is bound to. That means that when you open the Noted - Chrome Extension on that website, it will load this note. On the bottom-right side, there are three icons. These dictate all the actions that you can take on a note, which are: Share, Edit, Delete.

On the left, there is the sidebar menu which is your navigation for every function. You can switch between your Personal and Shared notes, or create a new note.

2. Creating a note

When you hit 'Add New' you will be prompted to enter the following information: the note's title, the note's content and a URL. While the URL is not mandatory, if your note has anything to do with a website, it is a good practice to add the URL, so you can use it with the Noted - Chrome Extension. After you write down everything for your note, hit 'Save Note' and that's it! You will see the note added to your list of Private Notes. You can now Share this note with other users, or delete it if necessary.

Binding a note with a URL makes the whole experience more fluid and efficient, as your note will be available every time you visit that website through the Noted - Chrome Extension
3. Editing a note

Noted provides a powerful rich text-editor to match all your note-taking needs. Want to save an email template for an important email at work/school? Want to make a list of things that you want to remember? No worries, we got you covered! You format your text with the following ways:

  • Headers 1 & 2
  • Bold
  • Italic
  • Underline
  • Strikethrough
  • Lists
  • Links
